Hannah Jackson James has worked long and hard to be invisible at Slaterville High School. She is quiet girl who yearns for normal parents because hers are such an embarrassment. Her estranged father is Jackson James, a Hugh Hefner-like celebrity and featured party star of the reality TV show and website, JJ’s Dreamworld. Her father talks and acts like he is twenty-two years old when in reality he is seventy two! Her mother, Candy Madison, was once his girlfriend and a special star on the show. Candy now supports Hannah and herself by appearing as an erotic Web-chat hostess wearing only lingerie on “The Candy Club.” Hannah’s own life is much more mundane as she works at Burgertown U.S.A. as a “drive-thru specialist.” Unexpectedly, Hannah’s father contacts her and tries to renew their estranged relationship. To complicate matters, Hannah also finds herself attracted to two boys: handsome, dreamy Josh and funny, annoying Finn. Despite Hannah’s quirky parents, Something, Maybe is a bit predictable, but still fun. Romance readers will enjoy this classic teen angst romance and look for more.
